HELP!! Our daughter stuck a coin in the cd player and we are trying to remove the whole radio. We found most of the screws, but still could not get the plastic cover off. Anybody have step by step instructions for us? Thanks a ton! Also, anybody have any good leads where we could puchase a replacement radio/cd?

P.S. Our set up is radio, below that is the climate control, below that is the cup holders and then a storage drawer.

I don't know about getting a replacement Radio/CD player. Maybe once you have it out you will be able to remove the coin and it will work again.

There are two MORE screws that need to be removed to get that thing out. They are hidden near the back of the cupholder on the INSIDE of the console. I wish I had taken some pictures when I had it apart, but didn't.

If your console is like the 2001 Venture that I have, you have to remove the LOWER section of the console first (cassett/CD tray in mine). I think there are two screws that hold this section in place (near the back). Once the screws are out, this lower piece will slide forward.

Because of the power outlets on mine, I had to remove the back plastic part (of the lower section) by pushing on the plastic tabs that hold it in place. I could then slide that lower section out of the way to get to the hidden screws.

These screws point straight up. You will need a flashlight and may have to put your face right in there to see them. Make sure the cupholder is pulled all the way out or you will not see them. Unscrew those two screws and the trim cover should come out easily.

I hope this helps. If I haven't explained it properly just let me know and I will try again.

Good luck,

Thank you! I pulled the bottom part but couldn't remove it completely because there are wires that connect to the lighter. Are you saying I should remove those wires? Once I remove those then I'll see more screws? I did see screws on the bottom of the cupholder but all it did by removing those was allow me to take the face off the cupholder. It didn't seem to help me get console off. Are there more screws there?

Thanks again,

David

David,

No - don't remove the wires. If you look closely, you will see that the bottom part is actually THREE pieces - 1 front part and two back parts or two halves (look along the seam).

The two back pieces are held on by "tabs" to the front. I will put a picture or two on my website soon and will let you know.
