Chev 305/350 differences? flipper760 06-05-2005, 02:49 AM
Hello, I'm changing my chevy 305 to a Goodrench 350. I have bought a Goodrench longblock, Edelbrock intake and carb, but plan to use my old damper, pulleys and some other stuff. When mounting the damper on the crank, I cannot get it to go onto the crank as far as it needs to. This makes the crank pulley to be about ½ an inch off. Does anyone know if thera are any difference between the two cranks - 305 vs 350, or any differences between dampers used on those two engines? thanks in advance! Claes, in Sweden victimizati0n 06-05-2005, 05:37 AM Yes, the chevy 350 crank will have more stroke than the 305 (in sence, it is bigger) Usually in engines, the bore is the same, and they change the crank size (to get the engine size) calgary_redneck 06-05-2005, 09:36 PM Yes, the chevy 350 crank will have more stroke than the 305 (in sence, it is bigger) Usually in engines, the bore is the same, and they change the crank size (to get the engine size) Wrong, the 350 and the 305 have the same stroke how ever the 305's bore is 3.75" vs 4" as in the 350....(they both use a 3.48" stroke. victimizati0n 06-13-2005, 06:45 PM Wrong, the 350 and the 305 have the same stroke how ever the 305's bore is 3.75" vs 4" as in the 350....(they both use a 3.48" stroke. since when? I have ALWAYS seen them at 4.00" bore and different strokes. Pewter'01SS 06-14-2005, 08:46 AM 305 - 3.740" bore 3.48" stroke 350 - 4" bore 3.48" stroke (Gen I. 350's only) Pewter'01SS 06-14-2005, 08:48 AM oh yeah...both the engines use the same damper.
