93 Escort LX wagon. runs & drives great except the 1-2 shift seems to be early (under 20mph, closer to 10mph actually), and really bangs into 2nd... fluid is clean, doesnt smell burnt at all. other shifts, 2-3, 3-4 are fine.

Anyone with a similar experience?

I've read where the speed sensor can cause problems, but most referred to not going into OD. I've also read where the TPS is tied into the PCM and can wreak hovic if not working properly.

Unless you know something about tranny repair, get it to a shop.

well, i do know about tranny repair, but only on older ones... C4, C6 Fords, GM Powerglides, etc...

What I was hoping for I guess was for someone to point me in the right direction, like a bad speed sensor, or whatever without having to dump a bunch of money replacing parts that may not need to be replaced.

Where's th AAMCO guy when ya need him? sigh...
