97 Neon, I want to install a CD player...xxOAKERxx 06-04-2005, 03:03 PM Hello, I was pricing cd players at the store the other day... Then I thought maybe I should see if I can actually take the car apart in order to install it... The one box showed a diagram with two screws coming out... Well my car doesn't have any screws I can see... This is what it looks like... http://images.igloos.ca/d/15249-3/Picture_21.jpg If it shows up... If not go here... http://images.igloos.ca/main.php?g2_view=core%3AShowItem&g2_itemId=15249 I do not even have a tape player, it's just a radio... The thing by the cig lighter is an ash tray, that thing folds down then you can see a screw, but i think it just takes the ash tray out maybe... i dunno... maybe you guys know... I'd be buying a cd player that will have the built in radio part too... In other words... I want to take the radio out and put in a radio/cd(one that plays cd-rw's too, and mp3's) Is Jensen a good company? Or do you suggest anything else! I was in the parking lot seeing if I could take the cover off somehow... It has to come off some how, I could pull it but not all the way... and my manual for the car is not helpful, so i'm hoping you guys will be! Thanks! blue99neon 06-04-2005, 05:26 PM According to my haynes manual, you have to remove the 3 lower panels, under the steering column first. Next pull the ashtray out, pull out the lighter. You then remove 2 screws that holds the ashtray holder.Next grab both sides of the cover thats in front of the radio, and pull forward. When the cover is removed, you will see the screws, that hold the radio. I hope this will help. growe58 06-04-2005, 05:55 PM das2123 06-04-2005, 08:35 PM According to my haynes manual, you have to remove the 3 lower panels, under the steering column first. You don't have to do anything to the panels under the steering column. After you pull that part off, there will be two screws to take out and then your radio will come right out. xxOAKERxx 06-04-2005, 10:28 PM Thanks for the link! I was trying to pull it off, guess I wasn't pulling hard enough... I shall do it tommorrow! I bought a jensen one, so tommorrow will be interesting! I could prolly do it now... But i'll wait till day light! Thanks for replying guys! das2123 06-05-2005, 12:21 AM Thanks for the link! I was trying to pull it off, guess I wasn't pulling hard enough... I shall do it tommorrow! The radio won't just plug and play. You have to connect a wiring harness to it first. It is pretty easy to do thought. I do recommend using butt connectors. xxOAKERxx 06-05-2005, 12:36 AM I bought the jensen radio/cd and...a mounting kit which has the wire harness stuff. I shall get some sleep now! das2123 06-05-2005, 10:47 AM I bought the jensen radio/cd and...a mounting kit which has the wire harness stuff. It looks so sweet and awesome! :-D Very easy to do, lol. xxOAKERxx 06-05-2005, 12:19 PM Well the pics will wait till later since my cam sucks ass, guess I get my bf to take pics one day... Or yeah... tasattack 06-05-2005, 10:50 PM heh, its even easier if you get the harnesses from circuit city. they sell the newest that just plug in to the back of the cdplayer and plug right to the cars wire harness no need to twist, solder or tape anything together. cost 25$ but when it takes literally 1 min to install a stereo, thats worth it. xxOAKERxx 06-05-2005, 11:49 PM vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
