Low Fuel Level Warning Light

I own a 1998 Chrysler Sebring LXi this car runs great with no problem, except the low fuel level warning light will not come one.. I have driven this car all the way down to below the empty mark without it coming on before refueling, I have changed the bulb in the dashboard to and the bulb was good, well the other day I was going to work and and the car was right below a quarter of a tank of gas, when the low fuel light DID come on, flicker for a moment and then slowly fade back out... could it be the fuel level sending unit, or possibly a wire grounding out somewhere... any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks...

Seems to be a common problem on sebring. The fuel level sending unit is the problem and should be replaced.
