93 G20 Turn Signal Lever Replacement

I have a 93 G20 conversion van. The cruise control isn't working. I have tried replacing the module with no luck. I am going to replace the turn signal multi-function lever then the servo, if that doesn't work. My question is: how do you remove that turn signal multi-function lever? Thnx in advance for the help.

Before you go and replace the multi-function switch, try doing some troubleshooting. When you replaced the cruise-control module, did you also check the DRAC module? If the DRAC module isn't working correctly the cruise control will not operate. Other ideas would be to check the servo for binding, vacuum leaks, bad hoses, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion. No I did not check the DRAC module and until your post did not even know what it was. Now, after some research, I at least have a rudimentary idea of what it is. How do I check it?

I wanted to replace the multi-function switch anyway because all of the letters are worn off. Then I was going to replace the servo. The servo does not appear to be binding and there are no large leaks that I can detect. I have already replaced the vacuum lines. If the multi-function switch was not the answer I was going to replace the servo in case the electronic connections were bad or there was small leak. If that didn't work then it was back to replacing the module.

I still need to know how to remove the multi-function turn signal lever from the steering column, any idea?

Thanks again.

I have an article that goes into detail how to check the DRAC module, and I will forward you the article (it is in PDF format). I'll have to do that from the office as it isn't on my home computer. The article goes into a lot of detail about the DRAC module and how to test it, but If it seems too complicated, you can always go to the junk yard and scrounge one up for around 10 bucks or so (that's how much I paid here). If you do that you'll need to make sure that the ratio-setting jumper wires are the same as your old one (let me know if you go that route and I'll describe it).

As far as removing the multi-function switch, it involves removing the steering wheel, airbag module (if so equipped - mine doesn't have one), and the lock plate cover. I haven't done it yet, but I understand that you need a special tool to get the lock ring off in order to get the cover off. Once that's removed, the turn signal lever wiring should unplug and the lever shouldn't be too hard to remove, but again I haven't done it yet.

I was afraid of that (having to remove the steering wheel). Well I guess that will give me something to do next weekend. Thank you in advance for the article. I don't have an airbag module either so that should make it a little easier, I'll let you know how it goes.

I was thinking this morning that it would probably help if you had my email address in order to send that article on checking the DRAC module wouldn't it? Please send it to grodrianst@aol.com
Thank you

I tried to email the article, but got an error that the email account does not exist. Did one of us type it in wrong?

That sucks, have been looking forward to getting the article. I double checked what I typed and it is correct. In case there is some other issue let me give you an alternate also. Here are both email addresses:
grodrianst@aol.com
grodrianst@charter.net
Sorry for the trouble.

Resent the article. I just had the thought that it might be being rejected for being too big an attachment. If that is the case I'll compress it and resend.
