Just bought my first BMW '02 530i (5 spd, 33k miles) in April. She's a beauty, but noticed recently that if I am at a stop sign (or traffic light) and need to light up the rears to get into traffic, my head doesn't snap backwards...it snaps forward from the sudden drop in power. I have no problem accelerating gradually or at higher speeds. I don't have any sudden loss of "giddy-up" at any other time.

I've read a few boards about hesitations, but they don't seem to fit my situation. If anyone has any idea on cause/solutions, please let me know.

Investigate the throttle body and make sure the mechanism moves smoothly and is free from debris.
Since the gas pedal is connected to the throttle body via electronic connectors, the pedal and throttle body are completely separate operating units.
So, mashing the pedal will not affect the throttle whatsoever.

If you have been lighting them up, they should be bald by now. More than likely the traction control is kicking in to reduce wheel spin. the worse the tires are the sooner it kicks in.

to find a trottle body you have to follow black pipe that comes out of the black air box and attached to trottle body it's located on driver side under tha hood
