I want to install a 3" body lift kit on my 99 supercab 2wd. i found a kit that trailmaster makes for under $200. my question is this, how hard is it to install this kit, and will any additional mods be needed in this kit? I'm 17, but i want to do work myself (stuborn person, lol). how hard might this be, and is it something that i could do in a day, or is this a major overhaul? thanks and please leave any other info that might be helpful.

I could tell you that it's a pain in the you know what, but that wont stop you from doing it.
I could tell you that the amount of frame rail that will show under your truck will look terrible, but that won't stop you either.
I could tell you that there will be a gap between the bottom of your tailgate and the top of your bumper, but you'll still do it. ;) ...I remember 17 well!
You didn't say if your truck was a stick or auto- You may have to lengthen the rods, fuel filler, brake lines, etc that are going from the body down to fixed positions on the frame. You should be able to get a breakdown of the parts that need modification from the store that you are buying your kit from. Even mail order places usually have a tech support person that can offer some guidance.

and a body lift does absolutely nothing but make it top heavy, save some money and do it right, get a suspension lift, it'll look ten times better and actually serves a purpose

ok, so say i want a suspension lift. can someone answer the same questions with that? i just thought that a body lift would be easier and cheaper, but i'd rather only do this once, so maybe a suspension lift would be easier. the truck is a stick btw.

i think a 3" suspension lift would be easier, and a good kit will come with everything you need, either way you're gonna spend some time on it, a weekend anyways, IMO you'll be much happeir with a suspension lift

ok, i know i'm gonna get scolded for this, but i'm going to go with the body lift. with the gap gaurds and bumper hangers i think it will work out better for me and my budget. i've heard nothing but good things about performance accesories 3" body lift, but they offer no prices or vehicle fitments on their site. am i on the wrong site? if i am where do i go, or where else can i buy the kit with everyting i need cheaper? thanks again for the help
