Where is the remote located, On my 96 it is on the panel with the door lock switch, I am not sure of the location on the 01 GA's. Is it a power switch or is it a manual control?

If it is located on the panel with the lock switch, you will have to remove that panel and retrieve the remote, if the tabs on the remote assembly is not cracked or broken you can just pop it back in place. If if is cracked/broken you will have to replace the switch, If not it will continue to pop out. If the remote is a manual assembly, there is a trim ring that clips in to the hole in th epanel and the remote pops into the ring. The ring, if cracked or broken, ahould be replaced. It is a dealer item, I have had to put two new ones on my manual control, in fact I have to replace mine now, it cracked and broke off.
If it is located on the door panel some where else on the door panel, you will have to remove the panel to retrieve the control switch/assembly and pop it in place or as listed above change the ring/ trim and install.
I hope this helps.

I did not have to remove the door panel. I removed the power window switch panel by loosening (2) screws located in access that is used to close door on arm rest. I was able to access the mirror switch from that point. I disconnected the mirror control switch. Took the switch to Lowes (Home Improvement) and sized a rubber grommet to snugly fit around shaft of switch> Then brought a retaining clip to fit over rubber grommet to hold switch in place. Re-installed looks like an original fit and more sturdy then the plastic retaining clip sold by dealers. Total Cost: Less than $3.00 and about 20 minutes to remove and re-install....Works great
