my 95 neon engine?nock 05-31-2005, 01:28 PM I have a 95 neon and i want to put a better motor in it i was suggested do use a spoon engine but the freind was an idiot but then i posted a different thread under honda and on guy said to use a 4G36 or somthin and i was wonder in if a 2.2 dual cam would be better or not so if ne of u have a gess or somthin then e-mail me at never_die_alone@hotmail.com thanx das2123 05-31-2005, 04:24 PM A spoon engine in a neon, that is funny. I guess it could work, but you would have to shell out alot of money. The best engine swap for a neon, would be a 2.4 engine out of a stratus. It isn't a direct bolt-in, but with some minor mod's it can work. It has been done over and over again. If you need some more info, email or pm me. skatendestroy 06-01-2005, 08:42 AM the best swap would actually be a srt 4 swap..... das2123 06-01-2005, 08:53 AM the best swap would actually be a srt 4 swap.....That swap is alot more complicated and alot more money. For the same amount and less time you can turbo a 2.4 stratus and have more power. skatendestroy 06-01-2005, 09:05 AM the swap is incredibly easy it is a direct bolt in the srt motors are the exact same external block as the 420a.. das2123 06-01-2005, 10:36 AM the swap is incredibly easy it is a direct bolt in the srt motors are the exact same external block as the 420a..The SRT-4 engine is not a direct bolt on to any first generation neon. The turbo is a direct bolt on to DOHC neons, but needs an adapter to fit onto SOHC neons. Where are you getting this info that the SRT-4 engine will bolt into a 1st gen? skatendestroy 06-07-2005, 08:52 AM http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=412710 If any thing tex is a relible source he knows his stuff. das2123 06-07-2005, 08:58 AM http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=412710 If any thing tex is a relible source he knows his stuff. One big difference: That post was on a 2003, not a 95! The first and second generation wiring harnesses are completely different not to mention the engine bays are different as well. skatendestroy 06-08-2005, 08:46 AM Ahaha my bad theres somthing I overlooked.. TEXSRT4 06-08-2005, 10:20 PM the srt motor will fit, but DAS is right, it will require a bit of tweaking. in the end it will be worth it though. while it is true, it will be cheaper to turbo a stratus motor, there is a lot more potential in an srt motor. 450hp on stock internals, the stratus wont be capable of that. if you want power, thats what you need to look into. if you are going to do that, make sure you get the entire engine/tranny/wiring harness/computer from the SRT. that will make the install a lot easier das2123 06-09-2005, 08:48 AM the srt motor will fit, but DAS is right, it will require a bit of tweaking. in the end it will be worth it though. while it is true, it will be cheaper to turbo a stratus motor, there is a lot more potential in an srt motor. 450hp on stock internals, the stratus wont be capable of that. if you want power, thats what you need to look into. if you are going to do that, make sure you get the entire engine/tranny/wiring harness/computer from the SRT. that will make the install a lot easierBut with that 450HP, comes broken motor mounts and broken axles. So put some money aside for some solid motor mounts and newer stronger axles  TEXSRT4 06-09-2005, 10:27 PM not necessasrily. guys are running it, you just cant abuse it. motor mounts are $25 for a set, and axles arnt too bad. $500, and i know several 400+hp cars that are still running stockers even after many many drag runs das2123 06-10-2005, 09:04 AM and i know several 400+hp cars that are still running stockers even after many many drag runsOn 1st gen neons? But true you can't abuse them. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
