ive got a 1996 F-150 xlt regular cab short bed and only have intake done...i have the v8 5.0L in it and was looking for good mufflers for exhuast (since i have a place that does the piping for real cheap). Ive heard from many people that flowmaster is the way to go...but the problem is the only trucks similar to mine (and the mustang 5.0's) ive heard only have flowmasters...

Im looking for a low rumble during idle with a good low sound during acceleration (not raspy), that is fairly quite in the cab...The exhuast i would be getting is the dual muffler (true dual) exhuast, any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh yea, and whatever brand you recommend can you please add the style for that brand....thanks

i was also wandering if i would get better gas milage...ive heard different things from different people, i would thiink i would if i got bigger pipes and a better muffler, but the view was split...and the fact that 96 f-150's dont do true dual exhuast...its the split Y muffler style...is the guy from the second repair shop i went to that said i wouldnt have any gains an idiot (ps-he also said that you cant put true dual on 97s and up, which isnt true)

your gas mileage would remain mostly the same, and performance and sound would go up (not alot of hp gain but some) aswell as looks of duel exhaust. Just find the brand of mufflers that suite to your needs.

Id say flowmaster 40 series, i put one on my truck and it sounded great, not a lot of sound in my cab, idel was quiet but when u get on it, it rumbles, my buddies definitly know when im coming up the hill or pulling in. make sure its the 3in inlet and outlet. U dont necessarily need to make all ur pipe 3in just get a coupling to fit. Im gonna dual mine out as soon as i find someone who can dual out my 97 shortie, puttin the tailpipes right infront of my rear tires.
