89 4.3L Throttle Body...Leeking by Injectors???? balls_to_the_wall 05-27-2005, 11:13 PM
Ok, I noticed this when I checked the fluids and air filter monday on my truck which is an 89 S-10 4.3L 4x4. Since I lack the technical terms to describe this, I will let the pictures do the talking...Screw it, I will make the post longer. Ok, As you can see in the pictures it seems to be seeping out fuel around what appears to be a gasket where the top part of the throttle body meets the bottom casting. If you would like high quality pictures, PM me, I wanted to make this more 56k friendly (mainly because I am on a connection that is alot slower than 56k). http://img264.echo.cx/img264/5701/throttlebody18wg.th.jpg (http://img264.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttlebody18wg.jpg) http://img264.echo.cx/img264/9342/throttlebody27cq.th.jpg (http://img264.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttlebody27cq.jpg) http://img264.echo.cx/img264/92/throttlebody37eq.th.jpg (http://img264.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttlebody37eq.jpg) Ideas on whether I should forget about it, if this would affect fuel economy, or power or whatever.....Input is greatly appreciated... Thanks -Ryan jackass#1 05-28-2005, 09:36 AM get a throttle body gasket kit. it only like $7 at autozone. it has all the gaskets and seals you need. one of you orings on you injectors might need replaced. it real easy to do, it has step by step and picture instructions. balls_to_the_wall 05-28-2005, 05:35 PM does its leaking affect anything though? -Ryan jackass#1 05-28-2005, 11:57 PM i guess it would because its losing fuel and pressure. not to mention possible fire hazard. $7 fix is well worth it.
