1992 Cherokee Laredo - Auxilary Fan Keeps Blowing Fuse

The auxilary fan (electric radiator fan) keeps blowing the 20 amp fuse. The fan will turn on, and shortly after the fuse blows.

Thinking it might be the fan motor pulling too many amps, I took apart the motor, cleaned it out, etc., and put the puppy back together. This seemed to work - for two days the fan operated fine. But after two days of problem free operation, the fuse is blowing again.

The next step I took was to replace the old motor with a new one, still thinking it might be the fan motor. This produced no joy - the fuse blows just as quickly as the old motor.

Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated. I don't relish the idea of taking the Jeep into the shop where they'll tell me the same thing I already know: The fan stops working because it's blowing the fuse. :)

Thanks
Steve
