Hi, I'm 17 years old and this will be my first car. I don't know much about cars and I'm not going to pretend that I do. I've saved up about 4 grand and my parents agreed to pay the rest up to a certain amount. I don't plan to do any heavy modding, just need something thats somewhat fast and reliable for daily driving but I do want to do some drag racing at the tracks. I'm going to college soon so I can't afford to take this car to the shop every couple of months. I've been researching about these two cars for the past few months now and I haven't found anything really bad about the SR20DET, everyone seems to love these cars. The supra on the other hand, seems as if its a problematic car, is this true? I plan to replace the head gasket as soon as I buy it but besides that is there anything else I should watch out for? And given my current situation, which one of these cars would you buy(Try to be as unbiased as possible)?

I dont think supras are a problomatic car i havnt seen anyone with major problems or constant smaller problems with a supra, neway for your use i think i would go with an sr20 but the supra would be close behind it, both engines are fairly reliable so i wouldnt be too woried bout that. its all up to you if you would ratheran sr20 buy it or if you want a supra buy it. They are both real nice cars and you will make a nice gain either way you go so Good luck when you get your new car!
