Remote For Venture

We bought our Venture from a dealer, however we were never provided a remote and only 1 key. It has the power sliding door. I'm wondering when I called a dealership they said a new remote is 150+, when I called a junk yard they said 10.00 but would need a remote with the code to program it. Can we program a remote ourselves or do we have to buy 1 from the dealership? If we can program it ourselves how do we do it? It's a 2000 Venture, w/power door and alarm. Thanks!!

Do a search on Ebay, and you will find lots of vendor of keyfob and keys for your vehicle. A few weeks ago, i bought two extra keyfob for my Venture, and 5 extra keys too. As for the keyfob programming, it's very easy. Do a search on this forum, and you will find the instructions on how to program your extra keyfobs. Anyways, you can click on the following link. The programming instructions are the same for the Montana/Venture/Silhouette.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I needed a orignal remote or not. I was told I did by the dealership (of course). And the junkyard said they could program a remote IF we had one already programmed. I think when i called they only wanted 10.00 for one with the power door option. Anyway, we will go buy one and try programming it ourselves! Saves us a 140+ bucks! Thanks again!
