Rear "rumble" type noise when stopped in DRIVEkopertone1 05-23-2005, 02:23 PM When I am stopped in drive there is some times a rear rumble noise which is farily deep sounding. It does this only when in drive at a stop. Is tehre somthing lose back there rattling or? It is common to make noise if the tailpipe and muffler are rusted out and bumping against something. It makes the noise at idle because of vibration when it idles. Look at the tailpipe and wiggle it.
