Just got a 90celica what to do????90celiGT 05-22-2005, 06:33 PM I know im upgrading the sound majorly. I have an Adire audio Brahma 15". Anyone into subs like the W7 but half the cost thats a good internet brand right there. So now im thinking about making it faster. Its a 1990 celica GT hatchback with a stick shift. Overall it runs great. 126,000 miles. Starts really easily all the time. One thing though that i wonder about and i saw one other short thread that mentioned this. My car rumbles or vibrates.... BUT only in between around 900 and 1200 rpm's. And i think its more apparent when its cold. Its not even that noticable but its definitely there. The seats shake if nobodys sitting on it. The head rests on the front seats visually vibrate. And alot. But its not very noticeable because it only does it from 900-1200. Im not even sure if that right though. It may only be from 1000-1100 rpm's or something. A really short bandwidth of rumble right above a warm idle. What gives? I really dont know all that much about cars so im looking for oppinions on what to upgrade with a smaller about of money. Maybe $500 to $1000. I heard it may be better to keep the stock intake rather than a aftermarket one. Someone somewhere said it makes it a tad slower on that car. I know it helped a little in my civic. But i saw something about a turbo on this forums stickies. What will it cost me and is that the way to go? What else can i do? 91 Celica St 05-23-2005, 01:48 AM who told u an aftermarket intake will give u less hp? slap them in the face and tell them to drive off a cliff as for turbo, expect to spnd at least $1k on it, and thats if you source lotsa parts and take ur time. do ur basic breathers, I/H/E and do your ignition, that shoudl be the first thing u replace when u buy a car anyway, all new ignition setup LaYzIeNoY 05-31-2005, 01:10 AM if you don't mind it being illegal and your state isn't big on emission regulations, then removing the cat while you do the exhuast will save a little bit of money and free up horsepower 2.5inch exhuast i think is the recommended one for N/a i agree for less than 1k, do the breathing mods and ignition system, spark plugs etc, you could look into short shifters they will only really help in racing though [if you're a good driver then you don't need one, i mean i beat people with them all the time ] jaybratt 06-19-2005, 10:11 PM If you want a good turbo kit look to Burien toyota in Seattle WA, I believe. Just Google that title and you'll find the website. Expect to pay 2500 (OUCH!!) for it though. boosts about 45 horses though. If you want to stick with cheaper bolt-ons I'd go 2.5 in. cat-back. Cold air intake, check Ebay for these, ignition, and if you want some good torque, a high flow header. The header I have only found one place and that is (http://www.hotshot.com/hotshotheaders/ty3029.html)- one nice header, but its expensive. Good luck with your car and I hope you find everything you need. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
