This is a good one. Driving along when headlights dimmed, amp guage dropped to 8, speedometer started going all over the place and since it was bouncing all over it wouldn't shift into overdrive, oil temp guage went up to hot, water tempo went up, static on radio all at the same instant. Showed a field short in the alternator on the codes. Took to shop, they said it could not be the speed sensor. After 4 days they replaced the speed sensor. Drove it out and the same crap happened again. Also now it's still going nuts but the only codes it's showing are 12 and 55 which is basically nothing. Any help? Thank you, G

You might want to check your engine block ground and any other ground leads from battery. My engine block ground had too much rust on the crimp on connector at the block the ground was jumping from the block past the connector directly to the wire, it caused gauges to go haywire (due to bad ground for temp, and oil pressure sending units/sensors) and shifting problems.I cleaned the contact surface and replaced the ground wire and new crimp on connectors.

...and the postive battery cable for corrosion.
