Buying a Tahoe, any tip?

Hi everyone, I´m a long time reader first time poster. :)

The situation is that I´m totally hooked on Tahoe and will probably buy one this summer. I even found one at the local dealer, it has been there for a year now and I think I can get it for a good price.
It´s an "LT Premium" from year "2000" with grillguard and the other normal stuff that comes with the model. Odo stands on 143 000Km ~ 88 800 Miles I think.

Any tip on what to look for before buying it?
I have read alot about the troubling brakes and the electrical though.
What´s the diff between newer models and the -00, like the -01 and -02? :)

i know what your going through,just got one myself.a buddy of mine who gets a new one since 2000 swears by them!test drive it and make sure it runs correctly in (1,2,3rd)(3rd-city)most people run them in overdrive(hwy)all the time,and it will stay that way unless you get some tranny work done.i just keep mine in o/d...hope this helps, Rudy

How is the tranny? Is it silksmooth or do you feel when it's changing(so I can count the changes) :)

I´ll go through it changing manually too.

shifts fine in o/d,but manually 1st,2nd,3rd are rough,it sputters abit.you'll be able to notice!

my tahoe has a small lift kit,i think thats why i'm having pinion seal problems.i pose'd this question on another thread.i think the"new" angle of the drive shaft or bad u-jounts is causing my problems aslo my temperture gage goes hay-wire,it acts like it's overheating but i got plenty of fluid and it runs fine.it gets decent gas mileage,i fill up twice a month (800-900) miles. i love this truck!

How about mounting a superchager(blower)? Do I have to change any parts that wouldn´t hold together?

I got a very valuable tip to offer you. That is DONT RUSH. Look around, test drive EVERY single one you REALLY like and think you can afford. Like if you see a red one and everything is perfect with it but you really don't want red, don't waste your time with it; move on. Take however long it takes to find THE right one for you. It will pay off in the end. It took me 3.5 months to find my truck and it was absolutely well worth the wait. Also, I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex so there were plenty to choose from. But when I saw the one I ended up buying, and then test drove it, then drove it again, and even again, I knew that was my truck. That was like the 5th time I checked out that dealership while I was searching. I saw MANY of trucks I really liked, but I only test drove a total of maybe 4 the whole 3.5 months I was looking. You sound like you are really a big fan of the Tahoes and I can understand why, so be patient. You will know when you find yours. I wanted to sign papers the first time I saw mine and drove it, but I held back, kept thinking, looking, etc. About 3 days later I wanted to drive it again but still made myself wait and make sure. Finally, after another 5 days passed by, I just went up there to see if it happened to still be there. Suprisingly it was. I wanted to drive it once more, and that was it! It's mine now and couldn't be happier.

I know how it is, you want the car so bad that it can be totally wrong and you still buy it just to find out that it was totally wrong, but you start to make excuses for the faults you find. :)

There aren´t so many Tahoes around here(Sweden), but I´ll testdrive them all if I have to. Good to get a feeling about them and then compare.
