removing gear knob

:screwy: hi there, i have an alfa 156 and am trying to remove the gear knob, tried unscrewing it but it wont budge does anyone know how they come off.

Hi alfagirl,
i recently changed mine ( it was a leather one ) and like you I had lots of trouble removing. To be honest i dont think you can remove it without destroying it, i've heard on other forums you need a pair of molegrips and once clamped just twist until it breaks the glue.....
I in the end cut mine off with a stanley knife. first removing the leather cover then the rubber knob part your then left with a plastic top which you should be able to break off leaving the shaft and in my case the lift up reverse lever.
