Quick Q on TurboSparsky 05-19-2005, 12:10 AM I thought I heard someone did this with out a problem. But I thought I'd ask for all the turbo gurus. Can you run a T3 50/.48 External wastegate turbo pushing 5psi with innercooler on stock injectors, block, fuel pump, ecu, ect.? I know you'd have to upgrade the exhaust, 2.5" or 3"? Engine is a d16a6. Thanks. scottsee 05-19-2005, 12:24 AM i would need to see a compresser map on that turbo to say yes or no. psi means squat. airflow is what matters. i know that dosn't help you but its the truth. Sparsky 05-19-2005, 12:27 AM Near as I can figure it's basicly a stock t3 turbo that you'd get from Turbocalculator.com, except it has external wastgate instead of internal. BTW... I'm planning on replacing the motor eventually. So if I blow it, It's not going to bother me a whole lot. scottsee 05-19-2005, 12:45 AM that tubo is to big. the t3/40 trim would be better for you. the t3/50 flows to much air and requires to much boost. the t3/40 is still a little large, but will get you into effency range at 8.5psi. to say you would be "ok" with your stock fuel delivery sytem would be a call somone else would have to make. raising boost on cars that have no fuel maps for boost can be a struggle without an air/fuel controller. the only thing i can say for sure, allowing others to cue in is replace the sparkplugs with colder style plugs, gaped sligly smaller. higher load sparkplug wire. increase your gas octane to a min of 91. and buy the supporting airflow mods, "small" smic, 2gov, boost gauge, mbc. DO NOT buy a turbo for that engine that has an external wastegate. the stock spring pressures they come with are to high for what you want. get an interally gated turbo so you can run as little boost as you want. and set your mbc to a max of 8. both 2.5 and 3in exhaust would be overkill, nothing wrong with elimiating boost creep. 2 1/4 would be just fine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
