Hi everyone i see people getting conversions for the rear malibu drum breaks with disks. Doesnt this mess up the abs and make the car unsafe. An answer will be greatly appreciated.

no i have done this and i have had it for over a year, i got it from a 2002 alero and the ABS hooked right up to the sensor in the center of the spindle and worked like stcok, maybe even better

I noticed no one has mentioned anything about a proportioning valve. Isn't one needed? Drum brakes run off of a much lower brake pressure than drums. Also, some cars that have all discs have larger master cylinders due to the higher pressure needed. If you do this conversion shouldn't something be done about the pressure to the rear? Drums just have the little cylinder that expands to push the pads and once pads catch the drums they pull themselves into the drum thus needing lower psi but discs need just higher psi and more fluid to push the piston.

i dont really know for sure but i the way that GM cuts corners i dont think they would have different master cylinders for different cars with the same chasis and about the proportioning valve i'm guessing there is not one or it is not adjustable but because of abs it should not matter too much
