Hey, I have a 2004 dakota 4x4 5sp with a v6 and it gets very poor mileage and power for what I would expect from such a gas guzzler (15mpg). I am interested in swapping it with a toyota v6 or v8 engine, but i dont know if it is possible dimension/ connnection wise. Does anyone know where to look for this info, or have any reccomendations on other engines that I could swap with more power/ mileage? your looking at around $4000 for a swap to a 3.7 V6 to a 4.7 V8. For that extra money, you should do as Bleed said, just trade it in for another truck.

Magnum 360 v8's are almost a bolt swap. You can find them on Car-Parts.com for less than $1000. All of the parts are available in wrecking yards.
