2001 Rodeo stalls when cold....Help!!! birdsonabat 05-14-2005, 01:22 PM
Help!!! I have a 2001 Rodeo LS with a 6 cylinder. When I start it after sitting ovenight or all day it will sputter, stall and then die. After a couple of starts...it runs fine and does not give a problem until the next start, 8-12 hours later. It stopped doing this as the weather started getting colder, but then started again as it started to warm up and get humid....this may be a coincedence though. It has 64K on it....any thoughts. Thanks! rodeo02 05-15-2005, 03:01 AM Almost certainly a bad intake manifold gasket. Super common. Try a search for "IMG". G/luck Joel birdsonabat 05-15-2005, 09:50 AM So....the weather or temperature has an impact on the intake manifold gasket? rodeo02 05-15-2005, 05:55 PM Yes. A cool engine and/or cool ambient temps cause the IMG to leak worse due to shrinkage ( :uhoh: :iceslolan ) Once the engine warms, the leak get smaller & the truck will run better. An IMG with HUGE hole will cause hard starts & stalling at idle all the time.
