Hey, couple questions on the speaker system. My 99 Tahoe has a few speakers not working, Right side front passenger, not working, and rear overhead 4 X 10's are real shite.
One question I have is how to get the front passenger door panel off(and back on again) to replace the speaker.
Also, does anyone know if the rear overhead speakers are wired along with the rear door speakers, how is that signal distributed????? I assume I can just get some decent 4 X10's and drop them in with no problem and it should sound a lot better.

Hey, Get the adapter plate for the front door speakers from crutchfield.com and they will also send you step-by-step instructions on how to install the speakers. The instructions are very well explained. I had no problem.

The 4x10's are pretty thin, in fact they remind me of the old in-dash round 4" spkrs!! If your going to replace the speakers, you might as well run newer, higher quality speaker wiring. Snip the OEM spkr wire and leave it where it and run new spkr wire where you want.

I just got through replacing all four speakers on my 98 2 door. To remove the door pannel you will need patience. first unscrew the two screws on the inside door handle. Next pop off the plastic moulding around the inside door lever. This is fairly simple, but requires patience. There are four clips. Get a dull knife and a flashlight. shine the flashlight in the gap between the moulding and the inner door lever. you will see the clips. Slide the knife under the clip and lift the clip out from behind the inner door handle. If you do it right the moulding will simply pop off. lift out the window/lock control piece and disconnect the wires. lift up from the back and slide it back. Pop out the light at the bottom corner and disconnect the wiring. Then comes the hard part. Pull off the triangle piece neer the side mirror. It will be hard but just keep pulling making sure you dont brake the clip or the piece. There are a number of clips around the edge of the pannel. Slip something (I used the dull knife) between the door and the pannel and slide it until you hit a clip. CAREFULLY pull the pannel off at each of the clips until its popped off. You will need to pry and it feels like you are breaking something, but if you are careful you wont. When all of the clips are out lift the door pannel up and out of the window and you are finished. It took me forever to find out how to do it so hopefully this helps.
