Vibrations

2001 Chevy Venture....Between the speeds of 72 and 75 mph I get this
vibration, any other time it is a smooth ride. It's bad enough that I can
recognize it and if I let it, it will annoy me. I have new tires, and have
had them re-balanced twice. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I was going to say "tire out of balance" but you already considered that.

Does the vibration come through the steering wheel or through the seat?

I can feel it both in the seat and on the steering wheel, my hands on the wheel is usually what alerts me to it so I investigate, usually I notice a external XM radio reciever shaking like crazy, so much so I can't read the information it is displaying, I also can see it in the vibration of my driver side (door) mirrior.

It still could be a tire balance issue. The tire balancer could be off a little, the guy doing it could be off too! Most balancers rotate and balance for 60 mph. Have them high speed balanced if you can.

Did you ever get the problem resolved? I seem to have the same problem. Thanks.

I have the same problem, too. Just replaced the tie rods, still there. Rotated the tires, still there. New rotors, pads and shoes, still there. I can feel it in both the seat and steering wheel. I'm fearing it's the rack. Any other ideas?

Did any of you try an alignment? I had an Aerostar van many years ago that slowly developed a bad (highway) vibration. Turns out it had a bent tie rod end. After the repair and alignment it was smooth as new. My Venture has been hard on tie rod ends. To the point of getting very loose and noisy. This along with even slightly out of balance wheels can get real shaky at highway speeds.

My 2001 Venture with 135,000 kms. on it, had never had any front end issues. I too had vibation and clunking at low speeds, mainly backing up out of the drivewey in the front end. Just had it checked out and bushings (i think) were worn and since everything comes apart to fix this, ended up getting new struts aligment etc. Big bucks to say the least.

But now all is good and hopefully good for the next 2 or 3 years.
