87 camry wont stay running bamboo_28 05-10-2005, 06:42 PM
My camry will start up after about 4 cranks, it then sounds normal and stills runs while in park, but when you put in drive and start to go, you have to keep the brake pressed and gas pressed or it will shut off. I am not sure what needs to be replaced. Any suggesstions? Their is also another fuel filter located on the electronic fuel pump which is located in the gas tank. It might could be cloged!! Mine was on my 1985 Camry and my 85 camry ran very similar to the way your car currently is running. You might also want to check the ISC (Idle Speed Control Valve) located on the throttle body. It might be gummed up and need to be cleaned. It's function is to raise the RPM's (engine speed) when a load is applied to the engine, ie: when the car is put in gear. You might want to check the air filter to see if it's dirty/plugged up. Just my 2 cents :2cents: JOET/CAMRY Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
