99 Silverado - Replaced Tranny, now won't start?? TheSevnthWarrior 05-10-2005, 03:32 PM
Help please, I just replaced my CL460E Tranny in my '99 Silverado, now it won't start, it ALWAYS starts! My buddy finished it while I was working....what the heck did he do/not do to make it not start now? I've checked every fuse, all are good. I can't find any wires left hanging.(some areas are hard to see though) Is there a wire I'm not thinking of/know of, that goes to the starter or Trans that would stop it from starting if disconnected? I'm old school, I don't know much about these "all computer" vehicles. Thanks for your help, TSW 99redsilverado 05-10-2005, 05:50 PM 1. neutral safety switch (put in neutral and try to start) 2. battery cables (tight and correct polarity???) 3. starter wires (connected correctly???) try those things then take it all apart and put it back together slower this time...make sure you got it all right.....the neutral safety switch was revised recently. Thanks 99red, I did check all those....the starter is harder to get to than I remember, so I'm not 100% positive he got those on correctly ...he swears he did...there's really only 2 that you could realistically get wrong ..right? Cables are on correctly, and I have a brand new Neutral Safetey Switch. It's gotta be somethin' small, but I can't seem to track it down. I know back in the day in a rush to get ready for Graffitti Night a couple times, we did some last minute tranny swaps with TH350/400's, goin' too fast and careless, and pinched that wiring harness that goes over the Bellhousing ...got it caught between the motor and bellhousing...hope that aint it...it looks unmolested to me...I got my fingers crossed. It's either getting no spark (I've been alone all day and can't reach the ignition and watch for spark at the same time) Or it's getting no and I mean NO fuel, cuz it won't even sputter enough to humor me..lol Thanks for the input 99Red, TSW Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
