Mid-Engine Super CIVIC - R.S.RSTuningFactory 05-08-2005, 02:59 PM this time I'm trying to make a Mid-Engine Honda Civic. I cut off the original fuel tank, and put the engine on it, then I will move the fuel tank under the front hood. http://img199.echo.cx/img199/2986/dscf02257ix.jpg http://img199.echo.cx/img199/1126/dscf02273dx.jpg http://img199.echo.cx/img199/9403/dscf02294px.jpg http://img199.echo.cx/img199/594/dscf02289di.jpg Scoob@AutoForums 05-08-2005, 03:06 PM your weird im really sorry RS but i agree. super-civic ? as much as i like the coupe version its just a commuter car blubaja 05-08-2005, 03:40 PM Hey, I like the idea of putting the engine in the rear. But at least try to get it a bigger motor. Keep up the great work otherwise! Frank X. Jaymes 05-08-2005, 04:16 PM you guys have to keep in mind that these builds are just models. Real world car rules wouldn't really apply here, people just build according to their imaginations. I'd like to see how this build turns out too btw RSTuningFactory 05-08-2005, 04:30 PM you guys have to keep in mind that these builds are just models. Real world car rules wouldn't really apply here, people just build according to their imaginations. I'd like to see how this build turns out too btw thanks for all the comment. I try to build this because I read a magazine before, it said someone put a B16A engine in the middle. the engine only got 160HP, but it beat a 350+HP Ford Mustang. so I'm try make a Mid-Engine Civic. boostspike 05-08-2005, 04:57 PM 1:1 mid-engine civics is not new.. its been done a few times, some with success, some w/o. i think it woild be hot if you put a NSX motor in the civic instead.... just a suggestion.. good luck.. boostspike 05-08-2005, 04:57 PM opps double post..delete pls Scoob@AutoForums 05-08-2005, 05:02 PM sorry if i ofended you, i didn't mean to its just, a mid engined civic ? crazy talk some might sat , namely me. maybe an nsx engine is a good option its not too big and the tamiya kits com with all the stuff for mounting, i'm sure you could convert the mounts to fit. sorry again. ImolaEK 05-08-2005, 05:04 PM your weird :lol::lol: :iagree: white97ex 05-08-2005, 05:08 PM i want to see how this ends up. mr2'ish. definately a unique build. was it top secret japan that did the mid engine del sol? it was in one of the tuner mags a couple years back....it was pretty awesome RSTuningFactory 05-08-2005, 05:17 PM sorry if i ofended you, i didn't mean to its just, a mid engined civic ? crazy talk some might sat , namely me. maybe an nsx engine is a good option its not too big and the tamiya kits com with all the stuff for mounting, i'm sure you could convert the mounts to fit. sorry again. I have think about a bigger engine before, but it just a Civic, so a B16A is definately got enough power to make it go fast. Feint Motion 05-08-2005, 05:24 PM Who cares if its do-able in real life, its just a model for gods sake. Nice Job so far. It should be an interesting build. rx7king 05-08-2005, 05:36 PM Who cares if its do-able in real life, its just a model for gods sake. Nice Job so far. It should be an interesting build. i agree, i dont think hes "weird" just cuz he wants to get creative with his modeling, i think it is going to be a cool project, and its beats seeing the same civic, over and over and over and over again Colov99 05-08-2005, 05:45 PM Looks like it will be an intresting project. I love crazy ideas keep up the work im intersted to see how it comes out. -c injecting 05-08-2005, 05:57 PM Looks awsome thus far, But your crazy. LOL. Cool stuff. pre98zetec 05-08-2005, 06:29 PM the engine only got 160HP, but it beat a 350+HP Ford Mustang.:lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2: :lol2: AstroRide44 05-08-2005, 06:40 PM i think it would be cool with 2 b16 motors in it. Jurva 05-09-2005, 01:38 AM Or turbocharge it. Then people would agree. _WIDE_LOAD_ 05-09-2005, 02:01 AM This looks pretty interesting.....different anyway... My opinion would be turbo it...get some torque into the lil buzzbox...lol:p to white97ex: Top Fuel built the midengined del sol street drag car....its a crazy thing to watch go down the strip. Later, Troy. Bas Carwash 05-09-2005, 02:11 AM You're definitely weird but I like the idea. I really would like to see how this one turns out. Keep us updated! Wheelin75r 05-09-2005, 03:49 AM :1: SupaMan89T 05-09-2005, 07:02 AM i know a guy here in ft myers who has a mini with a turbo h22 in the back its sick! tonioseven 05-09-2005, 07:41 AM Damn, just let the guy build the damned model the way he wants to!! It's only $%^&#* plastic!! If you can't say something in a respectful manner about it, leave it the hell alone!!! :cya: drnitrus 05-09-2005, 08:11 AM Looks cool so far. Keep the pics comin. rsxse240 05-09-2005, 09:16 AM not long ago on ebay there was a REAL civic with a RB20det and a Ford 9" rear end, that thing looked like a monster!!! I like this idea....it's something I have been considering for some time, however I would have used a V8 or atleast a V6. but putting the motor over the drive wheels in the rear is a great way to get more traction at the drag strip, or some real push at the track days!!! looks real good, I may need to get to hacking the 'Ghia again real soon!!! RSTuningFactory 05-15-2005, 03:39 PM cut off half of the roof. http://img216.echo.cx/img216/8517/dscf02324hu.jpg http://img237.echo.cx/img237/4818/dscf02337nm.jpg http://img237.echo.cx/img237/8607/dscf02354je.jpg more updates will be post next weekend. tardster 05-15-2005, 03:56 PM Looking good so far, keep it up.... drunken monkey 05-15-2005, 04:19 PM er.. what's wrong with a mid engined civic? next you'll be telling me there's something wrong with having a mid engined V8 mini.... SidewayzS15 05-15-2005, 04:36 PM Wow liking how this one is coming along, keep up the good work :) _WIDE_LOAD_ 05-16-2005, 12:14 AM Looks like eveything is coming together well. Keep up the great work Cheers, WIDE. blubaja 05-16-2005, 12:40 AM i know a guy here in ft myers who has a mini with a turbo h22 in the back its sick! Is that green? I saw an older mini with a midengine at SEMA last year. I reckon it was green? ALRIGHT!..I am going with the notion that Honduhs will still be slow nomatter where you drop the engine in  It is coming along nicely. What is going in the front now? Keep up the great work! Frank X. RSTuningFactory 05-16-2005, 01:07 AM ALRIGHT!..I am going with the notion that Honduhs will still be slow nomatter where you drop the engine in  It is coming along nicely. What is going in the front now? Frank X. I will agree if you said Civic. but not say Honduhs...don't forget, NSX is from Honda, too., about the front, I'm still thinking how to do it. SupaMan89T 05-16-2005, 11:25 AM Is that green? I saw an older mini with a midengine at SEMA last year. I reckon it was green? Frank X. i dunno if it was at sema but we found him at nopi got his card and went OMG your from ft myers?! and its green with crazy ass graphic's and stuff blueboost 05-16-2005, 03:14 PM you have me interested in seeing how this is going to turn out. RSTuningFactory 05-21-2005, 01:05 PM no big different from the last update, just add a roll cage. http://img259.echo.cx/img259/4932/dscf02729xb.jpg http://img259.echo.cx/img259/7623/dscf02710yo.jpg RSTuningFactory 01-08-2006, 01:02 AM hi everyone, I'm back with the Mid-engine Civic. http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6194/dscn16492fe.jpg http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2576/dscn16515mu.jpg http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2204/dscn16557en.jpg digitalbanzai 01-08-2006, 02:09 AM Wow, I must have missed this, that's awesome! deltableh 01-08-2006, 02:12 AM Looks a bit too much like a pickup... why not chop the top using a photoeditor? I'd be curious to see what it would look like, but I don't want you to do it in the plastic in case it really screws things up. I did that before, it looks like some cars that you see in a junkyard :p chyknees 01-08-2006, 02:30 AM crazy build.....nice job tho, looking pretty good. Mean_B16 01-08-2006, 02:58 AM Cool, looks a little wacky but thats not a bad thing. I like different and thats what you have, I would like to see what it looks like done so I hope you finish it, good luck. And by the way when you said 160hp B16 beating a 350hp mustang?? I am die hard honda and my CRX with a modified B16 runs 13s in the 1/4 and can take out a V8 or 2 but 160hp aint gonna do it, it had to be modified somehow other than just putting the motor in the rear (a little off topic but I had to throw in my :2cents: ) but again good luck w/ your build, kind inspires me to start on my RWD conversion again on my civic that is on the back burner due to lack of motivation, http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=562 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=561 RSTuningFactory 01-08-2006, 04:15 AM Cool, looks a little wacky but thats not a bad thing. RSTuningFactory 01-09-2006, 12:19 PM done with the front hood, back engine cover will be next. http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/6436/16603vh.jpg http://img418.imageshack.us/img418/5526/16619yz.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/5927/16624ed.jpg Myx_85 01-09-2006, 12:46 PM Wow, fantastic! speedphreak 01-09-2006, 01:16 PM Wow, that hood is super sweet! I heard somewhere that mid-engined is the preferred arrangement for supercar handling. Maybe this will be the cure for Civics' understeer issues... :iceslolan deltableh 01-09-2006, 03:01 PM Cool hood vents and radiator setup! I like where this is going. I heard somewhere that mid-engined is the preferred arrangement for supercar handling. Maybe this will be the cure for Civics' understeer issues... :iceslolan This is true due to the fact that putting the engine in the middle best distributes the weight of the engine and transmission, thus increasing handling, as weight distribution can then be tinkered with and perfected by the manufacturer. I'm loving this build, very different from any civic model I have seen! only observation I made is the plug wires, #3 & #4 plug wires go under the plug cover where the #1 & #2 plug wires go through the plug cover? I guess the wires where too thick to run together under the plug cover? I suggest making all of them come right out of the valve cover with out a plug cover or make them all go under the plug cover if you can (just my :2cents: as a honda enthusiast) I think that would make it look a little cleaner but other than that, I say your right on.:) keep the progress coming!
