96 dakota running problemeugene23 05-06-2005, 06:34 AM I Have A 96 Dakota When It Runs For About 5 Min It Then Has No Power And If You Hit The Gas It Sputters And Backfires. I Have Replaced The Following: Timing Chain Dist And Pickup Crank Sensor Idle Speed Motor Please Help I Love The Truck But Dont Know How Much Longer I Can Take It I Am Stumped. theFREAKnasty82 05-10-2005, 01:57 PM A few things could be wrong, your catalytic converter could be plugging or already plugged. Another thing, when you did the timing belt, did you make sure everything was line up properly? Even if you're half a gear off, that will affect the way the engine runs as well as the distributor, hopefully you weren't off on that b/c you could run into the same problem you're having now. eugene23 05-12-2005, 07:18 AM I Had Already Replaced The Cat. Forgot To List That. I Did Powers, Grounds And Cont. I Found A Broken Splice In The O2 Sensor Harness. It Was About Half Way To The Down Stream O2. After Cutting The Wire And Soldering It The Truck Runs Like Brand New. Thankyou For The Suggestion. Hopefully This Will Help Someone Else. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
