just bought this thing yesterday for $50 not runnin. cant get any spark from it yet all fuses are good but i cant find a coil to test. was wondering what i should check; relays, sensors, the dist coil assembly (thats new to me) or what. Im used to a carb, hopin someone could fill me in with a couple pointers, ive got a feeling its somethin pretty simple, i just need either a book or some good advice....

Would help a little if you gave engine size etc., but there are two possible problems with your car. First, the crank sensor may be bad. It is a small sensor which should be right at the front/base of the engine, near the crankshaft pulley. Try this first. Cheap item and I've seen both these AND the next item go bad together. The other thing is the ignition module which sits under the coil packs. If you trace the plug wires to the coil packs, you will have 2 coil packs if a 4 cylinder and 3 if a 6 cylinder. The ignition module is a flat device with wires hooking to it that sits under the coil packs and you have to remove the entire assy as one part and disasemble. then take the module to NAPA, Advance, etc and get it tested. Cost on these is usually around 80-100 bucks. Mount the coil packs on and re install. Might want to replace the coil packs too, although they run 20-25 bucks each. Might want to invest 15 bucks in a Haynes manual to guide you with this, and it should show how to test the coil packs too. They can fail, but not at once. Can have a dead cylinder though or two if one is bad.

hey thanx for the info, much appreciated. Its the 2.8l v6. from the looks of it, the only way to get to the coil packs would be either from under the car or by removing the radiator
