I bought my 96 V6 3.0 L Camry half years ago. And the mileage is 140k KM now. But I am not sure whether the original timing belt had been changed or not. Since it is difficult to indentify this item. I want to know whether I should have it changed anyway (but it wastes money if it had been changed), or I should just drive until it breaks. Will it damage the engine if the BT is broken during running? Thanks!

The V6 Camry 3.0 L is an interference engine, which means it will damage the engine if the timing belt breaks.

I checked from the below website and semms like that 96 V6 3.0L is a non interference engine. Am I right?

NO, NOT CORRECT! Go back and look at the list again. Notice that engines which have a "'#" after the engine size are INTERFERENCE engines!

I'm sorry... I'm the idiot. You're right... it's a "*" which denotes an interference engine... not a "#". So your engine is a non interference engine.

Thanks Jsinton! That means it will not damage the engine even it's broken, Right? I am still a little bit worried about that. Do you know what means" Carnshaft tensioner hydraulic assemily"?

That's right. If it breaks, it's not supposed to hurt the engine. Just take it apart and replace the belt. I don't know what the camshaft tensioner hydraulic assembly is exactly, but it sounds kinda self explainatory. Sorry "*" denotes a non interference engine.
