Hi ....... Need some help with my wipers. When turned on low they work fine, turn to off and they don't go all the way down. I took the plate off the top, spring is fine. But nothing is moving on that, looks like it should open when going to the down postion. I have marked the motor to see if the motor returns to the same position and it does, and while on, the motor turns clockwise, off clockwise then approx. half a turn counter clockwise. Any information on how this system works, especially that sping thingy on top would be appreciated ........ Thanks.

I had the same problem with a friends 99 Venture. I took it apart and spent a couple hours loosening it so it slipped, and lubricate the shit out of it. I wouldn't suggest taking it apart, just lubricate it, and see if it helps. I did this a month ago, so I can't quite remember how it works, I had to figure it out and reset the wipers, so if you haven't taken it apart or moved the wiper arms, you may be fine, timing is everything....or the wipers hit when coming down. Her wiper arms were played with to reset in the upward position, so I spent 2 hours reseting, and lost the wipers in the process...they hit.....and its a pain in the ass if you have never done these, and I had not, until then. If memory is correct, when the wipers are in motion, which is the motor in 180 rotation, the mechanism is unlocked and the plates are loose and perpendicular to one another, and when it is turned off, the motor turns 270 degrees, at the 180 degree it locks the plates into place, and forces the wipers down all the way, locking them into the down position. when the wipers are restarted, the mechanism rotates, and a little lever under the plates hit a post, and realease the locking pin, allowing the plates to release. I hope my memory is correct, I hate misleading with bad info, but hopefully it helps explain it. When I see her again, i will try to remember to double check my info, and get back to this, but as long as nothing was tampered with, then lubrication may help, hers was seized, but also tampered with, that was my problem, and taking it apart made it a nightmare. All is fine with hers, so hopefully you can solve yours...GOOD LUCK!
