XM Radio in 2000 GTP BigFig15 04-29-2005, 01:09 PM
A couple years ago I bought a Pioneer CD Player with the XM Radio Tuner. I got rid of the CD Player but now I have the XM tuner. Is there some way I can use that to put XM Radio in my car? I see these ones with a tape hooked up to it. How would this work in my car? I have a 2000 GTP with a CD player GTP Dad 04-29-2005, 01:16 PM You need an FM modulator that is available from a lot of suppliers. The modulator plugs into the antenna port on your radio and then when you want to listen to your XM you simply tune to one of the frequencies of the modulator and you get sound from your radio. They cost about $20 to $30 depending on where you buy them. Try cmttrading.com and you can find them on e-bay. BigFig15 04-30-2005, 05:42 PM So what kind of tuner should I get. Im thinking about getting the XM Roady 2. Will that work? GTP Dad 04-30-2005, 09:40 PM I think I am confused. Does the CD have an FM tuner in it or do you need an new one? If you already have an FM tuner in your car you will only need the FM modulator. If you don't have an FM tuner, then you will need a new head unit with one. The roady will work with the modulator as will any other XM radio. Check the specs on a tuner with XM capability it may be able to do everything you need without any additional equipment.
