Crazy iddle on Galant GSR 91squalipette 04-29-2005, 12:23 PM Here is the last of my problems with my little cherished galant. When I crank up the car, the iddle is quite high (as high as 2500-3000 rpm) and then after a minute or two, it starts going crazy by revving between 1500 and 2500 rpm. This goes on for like 4 minutes and then the iddle seems to come back to its sense and go about 1500 rpm (which I assume is normal for this kind of car). It also seems that the weather has an influence on the problem. Indeed, when very cold (I live in Michigan) this problem does last longer and when the weather is better, it seems to almost disappear (except very high iddle at the beginning). If you guys have any clew about the problem, I would appreciate the help because I'm tired of incompetent mechanics and being ripped off my wallet (becoming thinner and thinner). Pascal Tech Guy 05-22-2005, 01:14 AM first off, its spelled idle. 2nd, cars always idle high (about 1500rpm) at idle when they are still warming up. 3rd, 1500rms is not a normal idle when warm, it should be at about 700rpm. and if it bounces around, you probably need a tune-up. just adjust your rpm down to 700 when it warms up. mr bishi 06-25-2005, 07:03 AM try unplugging the idle control motor on the back of the throttle body when its revving at 1500, then adjust it with the sas screw on the front of the throttle body vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
