I recently purchased a 97 Dodge Intrepid with 89,000 mile on it and while you are slowing down to stop( just before you come to a complete stop) the idles surges to about 1200 RPM's and then back down to 750. I just tuned it up and cleaned out the throttle body. Any idea's??

first off, what engine do you have? when it idles, do you hear a whistling sound? Reason why I ask is b/c if you have the 3.5 liter V6, you could have a bad intake manifold gasket which is a very common problem on that particular engine.

you should never tamper with throttle body screw as these are set by the amount af air at the factory
and they suggest never tamper with screw you must repair the problem opposed to mask it with a screw adjustment now at this point you cannot eaven check your minimum air flow as you obviously had an idle problem prior to moving the screw this is why they install a conceallement plug on top of the screw
