when I accelerate while towing my boat the engine compartment makes a rattleling noise and the check engine light comes on but a few mins later or when driving on flat hiway the light goes out and no codes are found. I took the TB carb off to check it it all looks okay now i need to find a gasket for it to put back togather also. thanks huston

Sounds like under a heavy load the engine is running too lean or is actually missing. This could be a problem with the injector (or something else there) or a problem with the ignition not advancing properly. It's pretty tough when you don't have any codes being stored, though. What year/engine on your van?

Other things that came to mind...
Change fuel filter and air filter. When pulling a heavy load try premium unleaded (brand name *does* make a difference here). The noise could be detonation, and the trouble light comes on from the anti-knock sensor. If it only does this when pulling a load, the next time it happens try letting off a little on the gas and see if it diminishes or goes away.
This could be a symptom of some other part of the engine not working quite right and needing a good tune-up and diagnosis, though... This isn't my forte, but I have had it happen in the past. For reference, I have a 1992 G-30 with the 350 tbi and a 4L80E tranny.
