93 Shadow squeeking beltgrumpy4440 04-27-2005, 06:15 PM Hey all, I got a 93 Dodge Shadow converteble with a 2.5L automatic 3 speed. The problem is the serpentine belt squeeks and I can't get it to stop. I have replaced the belt, checked the alternator bearings, the water pump does not leak. I know it's this belt cause, I have taken it off and the squeek stops (and I replaced the other belts too.). Does anybody have any ideas on how to quiet it up. I am at my wits end. I have tried all that I know. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. chris Ryan066 04-27-2005, 09:21 PM is it tight? I do remember seeing a belt lubrication somewhere.. maybe that would help...but hopfully it wouldnt slip off. BleedDodge 04-27-2005, 10:02 PM There must be a way you can tighten it. Is it a real serpentine that just has a tensioner or is it a vee belt where you can tighten it from the alternator or a/c pump or somewhere? grumpy4440 04-28-2005, 05:48 PM Yeah it's tight. It does run around a tensioner, but like I said all is tight and running true (as far as I can tell). yogi_123rd 05-03-2005, 01:34 AM Parts stores sell spray cans of "Belt Dressing". That's a substance that's a bit tacky and you spray it on the belt and the pulleys. Stops the belt from slipping. SikEnCide 09-20-2005, 12:35 PM hadthe same problem thought was my alternator beraing turnes out to be the belt... i buaght a replacemtn a cheap one and it still squeeked.. finally i spent the money and baught a little bit more expensive belt and no more squeeking. ... also one again make sure you belt it tight. or not over tightened grumpy4440 09-21-2005, 06:58 PM Thanks all for your responses. I fixed it, it was the rubber bushings in the upper mounting bracket. They were worn out and out of alignment. I replaced both of them and checked to make sure it was all in a straight line ( had to shim one of them ). All is good now. thanks again all. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
