Hey everyone new to the forum actually my first post.
I have an 00 venture with the Warner Bros. package. when we got the van everything worked fine but recently the picture has gone out on it or so it seems. when you put a tape in you can get audio and volume control everything but the screen is blank ( it turns black ) when you take the tape out the screen changes color we have tried different tapes and still the same problem. I was messing with it here and there and I got it to play a tape for about 45 minutes then the screen went blank again. could this be a loose connection? dirty heads? honestly I would like to put a DVD player in here and would like to keep the factory set up ( the screen ) can anyone recommend a dvd that matches right up? (wires up the same etc.)
also how do you remove the VCP? I know I'm full of questions
main concern is getting video to play through it
any help would be appreciated
thanks

help a newbie out
Bud

It looks like dirty heads imho. The first thing I would do, if i were you, is to have the vcp heads cleaned. When you lose video on a vcp, most of the time, the cause can be linked to dirty heads. The vcp heads should be cleaned every 10 hours (playback time).

Good luck, and let us know if it works.

Yves.

Did you try to clean the heads with a "Wet" head cleaner? You know, the kind where you have to squirt cleaning fluid on the cleaning tape and let it run for about 30 seconds.

Generally, VCRs (or VCPs) are NOT meant to be in a "dirty" environment like a car. It may take more than one cleaning with a wet tape. I had a REALLY OLD VCR that took about 3 cleanings to get it going again.

One other note: the video system will often "blank" the image when the video signal is not good, so you will not see "static" in the picture. If you start to see static, its time to clean the heads again.

Take Care,

My Venture does the same thing. I removed the VCR and connected RCA jacks from the VCR directly into the ports next the the monitor, the monitor works fine. There must be a bad connection between the VCR and the monitor. I haven't got up the nerve to sort through the wiring yet. You could try that to eliminate the VCR unit itself. Good Luck

I have tried to connect a PS2 into the aux connectors but nothing, do you have a walk through on what and how to remove the VCR on these?

also anyone know where I could get another LCD screen for fairly cheap?

You just disassemble the lower vcr cosole. There are a lot of little parts in there, just try to keep track of their locations and you'll be fine.
