I am wanting to get bigger tires,, i have a 96 ford explorer 4 door, 5.0 liter, v8 , eddie bauer eddition, i want bigger tires, whats the biggest i can put w/ out a lift or alteration...... also if i were to put on a lift, how much would it cost for a 3 inch lift? also how can i improve gas mileage..... just things on my mind, maybe you can help ... thanks

lift kits are normally several hundred dollars depending on the vendor. big tires equal lower milage. the two dont go together. trying to turn them big hawgs takes horse power.

anyone know what the largest tire i could fit under there is? w/ out modifications....

i fit 265/75/16's "31.6 inch" on my 98 eb without any problems

you can do a 2" lift for under $75 with shackles, and playing with the torsion bolts. you can see more info, and a tire size guide at www.explorerforum.com

I went to a taller and slighty fatter tire on my 97 eb 4 door, and we just discovered that when turning sharp, it rubs the front tortion bar.
