For about the last month, I've had trouble cranking my '98 Jetta. It's a 4-cylinder, 2.0 engine, with standard transmission. At first I thought it was my battery, so I got it replaced. The same problem continued, though. When I tried to start the car up, it wouldn't turn over at all. My lights came on, my radio came on, but the car wouldn't attempt to start. I tried pressing on the clutch even harder, but still nothing. I had Auto Zone do a quick check, and my alternator was fine. It was then suggested that it may be my starter. I had my starter rebuilt about a week ago, so I thought everything would be fine. On the days that it is cool outside, my car cranks without a problem, but when it's hot outside, it will not crank at all. I have to get a ride from work, and go back to get my car when the sun goes down. I have no idea of what is going on. If anyone knows any possibilities of what's happening, please let me know. All information is greatly appreciated.

Did they put on a new solenoid when they rebuilt the starter?

I called the guy who rebuilt my starter. He told me that he "couldn't remember" if he installed a new solenoid. I'm supposed to have it replaced this weekend. I'll let you know what happens. I really appreciate your feedback.
