Hey guys. I have a 1992 accord which was given to me by my uncle. well, i pulled the plugs and they were covered in oil. I'm thinking this means my piston rings are worn out or my valve guides are worn. I don't want to take apart the block because i dont think i have the experience and I don't want to take it to a mechanic. It's not like i need the car because I'm driving my 86 cougar right now anyways, but i wanted to fix this one.

so i was thinking, could i change the oil and throw in some of that stuff that seals oil leaks? would that fix it? Ill probably have my valves adjusted correctly too but i dont think that will fix it. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Is the oil on the top of the plugs or on the combustion end? If on the top, you have a valve cover O ring oil leak. You can fix the problem by replacing the O rings and probably the complete gasket if it is hard.

If the oil blow-by was internal, you'd smoke like hell if the plug's firing ends were wet with oil. Like Mpumas said, they were probably sitting in a puddle from the cover seals, and it coated them when you pulled 'em out. It's gonna smoke when you start it once you put them back in (from that oil going into the cylinders), so don't trip on that too.

Yeah, more than likely it's the spark plug wire gasket underneath the valve cover. Just take off the valve cover and flip it over and you'll see the black rubber gaskets. (the opening of where the plug wire goes through) while it's off, you should replace the valve cover gasket also.
