I'm trying to program my 2001 Intrepid keyless entry remote. I HAD one working remote and a new remote I got from Ebay. I followed the instructions for programing it from a 2002 repair manual because I couldn't find anything on a 2001. It didn't work and now my original one doesn't work. Guess I have to go to the dealer now. Anyone have any advice?

unless you have a functional transmitter you will need to visit dealer

That's what I thought. Any clue as to what the dealer is going to charge for programming two remotes?

I was expecting an hour, so if it's only a half hour I won't be too upset. I just bought this car with 35,000 miles on it, drove it a block and realized it wasn't shifting. To make a long story short, the transmission had to be rebuilt and the TCM (trans computer) had to be replace. Fortunately, I bought it from the Federal Government and they are going to pay the bill. It was supposed to be as is, but they make exceptions. I really like the car, but I liked it more when the remote worked.

Thanks for your help!!

This is taken from page 20 out of the owner's manual:

1. With the vehicle in Park, turn the Ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Using a previously programmed transmitter, press the Unlock button on the transmitter. Continue to hold the Unlock button, wait at least 4 but no longer than 10 seconds, then press and hold the Panic button for at least one second. Release both buttons simultaneously. You will hear a chime to signal that you can proceed with programming the new transmitter.

3. Press and release the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously, followed by the press and release of the unlock button on each new transmitter to be programmed as well as the previously programmed transmitter. You will hear a chime when a transmitter has been successfully programmed. You will have 30 seconds to finish programming all the new transmitters. A chime will sound when the 30 seconds is over or the ignition switch is turned to the Lock position.

you can only program up to three remotes.

Good luck. it should only take a minute.

p.s. don't forget to "reprogram" the first remote.

email me if you have any questions.
