The truck is 2WD and has 185k on it it will catch first and second fine but, it just slips when it is supose to hit third and fouth!! I checked teh ATF and it is at the right level?? The local shop says it needs a new tranny, but wants $3,000 to rebuild it!! I can get a used tranny from a junk yard with 90k on it for $689. I just want it to run for two more months!! What should I do

Are the solenoids internal to the tranny? Can I get to thekm by droping the pan or do I have to take the tranny out of the truck?

the most common thing is to loose third gear clutch,also used in fourth,due to seal wear or component failure.sound like you either fix it or sell it broke.
