No help from Haynes wiring diagrams
Do anybody know how the outside temp works?
There are no wiring diagram of this in Haynes, and I replaced the temp sensor.
On my JEEP CHEROKEE I have the diagram for outside temp sensor, and I located the fault right away.

The problem with my temp indicator in the venture is, that it is just showing 0.

The ambient air tempature sensor is just a thermister that is wired directly to the DIC. The black wire should go to ground while the light green/black wire should go to pin 10 at the DIC. I would first check for continuity between ground and the black wire at the sensor. Presuming that is good, check between the lt green/black wire at the sensor and pin 10. If that is good as well, then the problem probably lies with the DIC if you can get a resistance other then 0 or infinity from the sensor.

Both wires follow the same route to the passenger side pass through connector on the firewall. There is a connector between the windshield washer resevoir and the battery that has 3 cavities. This is the only connector for the two wires between the sensor and the firewall.

On the other side of the firewall, the ground wire makes a straight shot to the main ground point on the cross car beam in the passenger foot well. I don't know if this is easily accessable or not.

The lt green/black wire also has a connector in the passenger foot well. It's the main wiring block under there. This then snakes up to the DIC.

Hope this gives you enough information to trace the wires.

Thank you very much your information, "cdru", your info is just what I needed.
