Running Rough

Well it's my turn to ask about cooling. My 97 Venture had the tranny replaced and a week later started running hot. Thought was the thermostat. Pulled the housing off and it was the mud colored gunk. I pulled the radiator out and took the intake side off and cleaned it out. Then I flushed the entire system ; motor and heater. Now the problem i am having is my check engine light came on. And it shows the code for cylinder number 2 misfire and a random cylinder misfire. I changed the coil pack. And still not fixed. I have changed plugs and wires. The fans will not cut on unless i cut the ac on. Now the car will warm up and when it gets to the point where the fan should cut on, well no luck and then the check engine light blinks on and off, and I get white smoke from the exhaust. It's almost seems the head gasket or the intake gasket starts to leak when it gets warm. I have driven it about 10 miles to test it and it seems to hold temp idling but seems to run hotter driving. I pressure filled the system so no air in it. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what was your solution. I don't have any water in the oil and i didn't put the dex cool back in. I am going to change the water pump tomorrow. Might as well only $12 at autozone.

Thanks Jeff

Check engine light blinking on and off means it's a seriouis misfire. Continuing to run will probably toast your cat converter as it can overheat, literally starting a fire with the unburnt fuel.

Are you losing coolant? Are you sure the white smoke isn't just water vapor from first starting up? Head gasket could be the problem. A pressure check of the coolant system, cylinder, and/or a leakdown test would shed more light.
