Headlight Motor Gear cornerofdivision 04-19-2005, 08:18 PM
I'm sure most firebird owners have had the gear of their headlight motor become stipped. I was wondering if it would be better to buy a replacement gear, like the metal ones found on ebay. Or to buy a whole new or used motor? I know replacing the gear would be cheaper, has anyone here done it and how tough was it? FormulaLT1 04-19-2005, 09:02 PM I changed mine to the bronze one's and its not too bad. I figured it was better to do it right once than having to do it over like 3 times in a couple years. The bronze ebay gears come with step by step instructions and is not that hard even for a novice and it will save you the trouble of having to worry about doing it again down th road. I will get the brass gears when I do though. cooltc2004 04-20-2005, 02:09 PM Any of those work on a 3rd gen? 99onI95 04-25-2005, 09:23 PM Like formula I replaced one of my gears with bronze. Also check your rubber stops on the headlights worn stops will cause your light to bounce even after gear replacement. oxiderush 04-26-2005, 09:14 AM the moron i just bought my car from installed a 3 in cowl hood that didn't line it up right, and overlapped the headlight doors. That's probibally why the're burnt out on my car Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
