hello
last year I have changed the exhaust pipes front and rear and i have been surprised because I found no gaskets, is it normal ?.
On rock auto spares parts they sell gaskets , are all cars equiped with?.

thanks

Paul

Depends on the type of connection I beleive. Two flat surfaces need a gasket to account for thermal expansion/contraction. However, on at least the 97+ Trans Sports, all the connections are made with joints that's aren't "flat". One side has a flange that is slightly conical (think like a funnal) that fits into the other side. It seals without the need of a gasket as it can expand and contract without loosing connection.

I'm talking about the gaskets between the engine and the exhaust pipe ,not the one that connects the pipes with the exhaust line.
But I'm not sure of the good technical vocalubary terms

Bye

Ah. It's called an exhaust manifold gasket. Late model transports definitely do. I can't imagine that the earlier models didn't. Are you the original owner? Has the manifolds ever been taken off? I'd imagine someone never put them back on after a repair, either intentional or unintentional.

No I am the third owner and I get it since 5 years , the exhaust pipes were broken because when you run with LPG the engine is more hot and less noisy , I think it is the reason.
I recently changed myself the transmission , I ordered it at Certified transmission in USA and it was tricky but now it is OK ,
I have asked a question on this forum about a problem of sputtering and stalling engine
the engine as a strange behaivour and I can't fix it, and when I run with LPG is it ok , may be the filter or pump!

If you have an idea

Paul
