95 Grand Am Surge LoneWolfjd 04-19-2005, 02:55 PM
I have a 95 Grand Am GT and the engine started surging 2 days ago. I will turn it on and the RPMs will jump up to 2k right off the bat. I also noticed the day before that it kept surging between 1 and 2k but I turned it off and turned it back on and it stopped doing that. I have checked to make sure there isn't anything pressing down on the gas pedal and it seems clear. Any suggestions? Ridenour 04-19-2005, 06:12 PM welcome to the forum, lonewolf. I was messing around with it, checking all the cables and I put in Fuel Injection cleaner and it seems to be ok now. It sounds like I have a loose belt though. I might just take it to a pro to take a look at it. Thanks for the welcome and the advise welcome to the forum, lonewolf. There's lots of things that could cause this. If you run a K&N filter they can get dirty and cause the problem you describe. Have it cleaned by a pro. The TPS is the throttle position sensor. It determines the location of the throttle and sends a signal to the PCM so it can determine how much fuel you need. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
