Hi all having a very strange problem that ive never had b4 on any car.
Car started to make a strange whining nosie while driving an my imediate thoughts where the power steering pump, but the pump is fine.
Whats happening after some in vestigation is when reving the engine the big double pulley at the bottom of the engine (the one that takes both belts the v groove belt for the alternator and the multi groove belt for the power steering and air con)is moving out away from the engine a good 5mm then moved back intowards the engine when the revs drop.
Is that normal for it to do that?
And if not what could be making it do it?
In my mind if it was something like a bearing gone or going then surly it would be moving up and down not in and out.
Anyone had this problem or knows what it is and how to remedy it if you wouldn't mind giving me some pointers please.
Thanks

Not sure if the 2.0 is the same as the 2.5 V6, but that engine suffers a similar problem. The wheels is rubber mounted and the rubber loses its strength over time. On the V6 fitting a new pulley with a new rubber sorts the problem out.

I believe so. www.clubvr4.com is where I have spoken to people about this problem. If you are in the UK or NZ then it would be a very good place to look.
